Working with Jopari Solutions’ eBill platform, Zurich will be able to process and review medical bills electronically in all states.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Feb. 16, 2021 – Zurich North America is expanding its capabilities to support receipt of electronic medical bills for all states by leveraging Jopari Solutions’ eBill platform.

The expansion of e-billing to all states supports Zurich’s overall strategy to simplify and evolve its operations as well as its sustainability objectives to reduce its carbon footprint by moving toward 100% renewables at its facilities within the next few years and reducing the use of paper by 80%.

With the new eBill platform, Zurich will be able to process and review medical bills and attachments expeditiously using an industry standard Electronic Data Interchange-compliant solution for all medical providers across the United States who have provided claim services to patients under review by Zurich.

“The cost of receiving and processing paper medical bills and medical attachments is expensive and time consuming for everyone involved, so we are excited to support this national expansion using Jopari’s solutions,” said Michelle Gauder, vice president of Managed Care, Zurich North America. “Zurich is committed to making the most cost-effective use of our resources so we can focus daily on delivering for our customers. A national expansion of medical billing allows us to meet the growing needs of the industry.”
Steve Stevens, CEO of Jopari Solutions, said, “During the last seventeen years we have developed federal- and state-compliant solutions for the industry. We have been fortunate to work with Zurich for over ten of those years and are excited to be the electronic solution provider for their national expansion.”

Electronic medical billing is not new to healthcare or the insurance industry, but the property and casualty market has traditionally lagged broad-based adoption. Organizations like IAIABC, X12, WEDI and others have been working with the industry to both define the standards and identify solutions to aid in the expeditious handling of claims. While some states have mandated use, national utilization for the P&C industry has been slow, especially when combined with electronic attachments, which can be included with the electronic medical bill and are critically important to the timely review of claims.
