Jopari Solutions Awards and Industry Associations

Jopari Solutions, Inc. has played an active leadership role in serving on jurisdiction taskforces to develop eBill rules and regulations that will align with the national EDI standards to facilitate a standardized approach to electronic connectivity.

Jopari Solutions, Inc. is an active member of the following National Standard Setting Organizations, Medical EDI trade associations, National Cybersecurity Initiatives as well as Jurisdictional eBill Taskforces:

The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI).
The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) is the leading authority on the use of Health IT to improve healthcare information exchange in order to enhance the quality of care, improve efficiency and to reduce costs of the American healthcare system. Formed in 1991 by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), WEDI was named in the 1996 HIPAA legislation as an advisor to HHS and continues to fulfill that role today. Serving as a private and public industry solution to critical healthcare problems, WEDI is a coalition comprised of a cross-section of the healthcare industry: doctors, hospitals, health plans, laboratories, pharmacies, clearinghouses, dentists, vendors, government, state regulators and other industry stakeholders. Jopari EVP is also the Co-Chair of the WEDI Property and Casualty Committee.

Awards 2014 -2018

WEDI Chairman Award – This award is presented at the discretion of WEDI’s Chair to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the advancement of specific WEDI initiatives

Distinguished Service – This award recognizes individuals who have provided significant leadership to the fulfillment of the mission, objectives, programs and overall volunteer activities of WEDI through participation in committees, workgroups, PAGs, Board of Directors, among others.

Outstanding Leadership Award – This award recognizes Workgroup/Taskforce or Sub workgroup Co-Chairs who have consistently contributed toward the growth, success and impact their group has made on the industry.

Volunteer Services Award – This certificate recognizes a leader in the making – someone who is making a real contribution and a real difference within WEDI. This award recognizes someone who has actively supported the efforts of their workgroup, sub workgroup or taskforce through their commitment, leadership, team play and productivity.

American National Standards Institute Accredited Standards Committee (also known as ANSI ASC X12) is the official designation of the U.S. national standards body for the development and maintenance of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards. Jopari EVP serves on the X12N Management Board, X12 appointed Liaison to the IAIABC and the appointed Workers’ Compensation Industry Voting represented for the National Code Committee

Cooperative Exchange, The National Clearinghouse Association representing 95% of the clearinghouse industry. Jopari executive has served 2 terms as Chairman of the Board and is Co-Chair of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Committee.

National Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council – Presidential Executive Order (PPD-21) – Serve on the Cybersecurity and Regulatory Policy Task Force

The Health Care Claim Adjustment Code Committee. Jopari is an appointed representative Workers’ Compensation Industry voting member which maintains the ASC X12 835 Claim Adjustment Reason Code and Status Code Maintenance.

Attachment Collaboration Project (ACP -HL7, WEDI X12) Joint industry attachment collaboration project engaged in creating an Industry Attachment Guideline White Paper. Jopari was a contributing author to this industry White Paper.

The International Association of Industrial Accident Boards & Commissions (IAIABC) is a not-for-profit trade association representing government agencies charged with the administration of workers’ compensation systems throughout the United States, Canada, and other nations and territories. The IAIABC is the international workers’ compensation standard organization. Jopari played a key role in developing the eBill and EFT initiatives, as well as the ongoing revision.

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is the healthcare industry organization exclusively focused on providing global leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. Jopari is a regular participant at HIMSS conferences and sessions.

National External Code Committee voting member representing the Workers’ Compensation Industry per IAIABC appointment for X12 Transaction TR3s.

California eBill Taskforce represents multi–stakeholder industry leaders working collaboratively to provide eBill rule making guidance to the State of California Division of Workers’ Compensation.

Texas eBill Taskforce represents multi –stakeholder industry leaders working collaboratively to provide eBill rule making guidance to the State of Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation.

Georgia eBill Taskforce represents multi –stakeholder industry leaders working collaboratively to provide eBill rule making guidance to the State of Georgia Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Minnesota eBill Taskforce represents multi –stakeholder industry leaders working collaboratively to provide eBill rule making guidance to the Minnesota Department of Health and Labor.

North Carolina eBill Taskforce and collaborative effort with the IAIABC in providing guidance on eBill regulations and eBill Companion Implementation Guides. North Carolina regulations includes mandated EFT payment requirements.

Louisiana eBill Taskforce and collaborative effort with the IAIABC in providing guidance on eBill regulations and eBill Companion Implementation Guides

Illinois eBill Taskforce and collaborative effort with the IAIABC in providing guidance on eBill regulations and eBill Companion Implementation Guides

Oregon eBill Task Force and collaborative effort with the IAIABC in providing guidance on eBill regulations and eBill Companion Implementation Guide

Virginia eBill Task Force and collaborative effort with the IAIABC in providing guidance on eBill regulations and eBill Companion Implementation Guides. The Virginia regulations includes mandated EFT payment for electronic submitted claims unless the payer and provider agree to an alternative method of payment

New York CMS 1500 Initiative Task Force and collaborative effort with the IAIABC

Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrators (SAWCA) – a long-standing group of State agencies and claims organizations in 19 jurisdictions; 17 states, District of Colombia and the Virgin Islands. The States are: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. The Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators, Inc. (SAWCA). was formed in 1949 and incorporated in 1980. SAWCA provides a forum for consistency in rules/policies and progressive development of claims management techniques among its members.

Other trade groups such as Insurance Council of Texas, National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), and the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations/Third Party Administrators Association of America (AAPPO/TPAAA.)

Additionally, Jopari has worked extensively with the American Medical Association (AMA) to create and provide education webinars and toolkits to its provider membership focused on automating their workers’ compensation and auto claims and attachment process, as well as the availability of EFT payment offerings by Jopari payers.

These educational efforts have now expanded into working with many of the State jurisdictional agencies, State and Local Medical Societies, as well as Specialty groups such as Orthopedics to provide orientation and education to the benefits of eBilling. Jopari has also participated in NAOHP (National Association of Occupational Health Professionals events.
