JOPARI’S MEDICAL EDI GATEWAY POWERS E-BILLING SOLUTION FOR TEXAS WORKERS’ COMPENSATION STAKEHOLDERS
Cost Cutting Compliance Gateway Gives Payers SAS 70 Certified Automation of Medical Bill Lifecycle, End-to-End Processing Control and Medical EDI State Reporting
CONCORD, CA—April 2, 2007—Jopari Solutions, Inc., the technology leader in electronic bill acceptance, payment automation and payer/payee portal services for the property and casualty industry, has introduced a SAS 70 Type II certified Medical EDI Technology Hub enabling Texas workers’ compensation payers to comply with e-Billing, electronic remittance advice and medical EDI state reporting requirements.
Jopari Solutions presented recently at the Texas Department of Insurance, Workers’ Compensation Division an end to end E – Billing Compliance Solution.
Positioned as the logical strategic compliance option for payers and characterized by single workflow architecture and rapid activation, Jopari’s Medical EDI Gateway exemplifies the key support specialized technology companies are providing to assure success of jurisdictional initiatives, led by Texas, to assimilate electronic workers’ compensation billing transactions.
Jim Grim, Jopari’s Senior Vice President, commented, “Jopari’s Medical EDI Gateway gives all Texas stakeholders – particularly insurers and third party administrators – access to a comprehensive, low-cost compliance strategy. Our solution for Workers’ Compensation payers provides a single vendor solution that manages all consolidated e-bill generation sources and automates electronic remittance advice (835) delivery.”
Mr. Grim emphasized the advantage for payers of comprehensive end-to-end e-Bill processing, as opposed to partial compliance solutions. According to Mr. Grim, “front-to-back paperless workflow is the key to successful compliance. Vendors in this space should demonstrate complete understanding of workers’ compensation claim processing. For example, vendor workflow should support bill image view and processing by the payer for both pre- and post-bill review processing. In this type of configuration it is desirable to have EDI & paper bills delivered as clean rendered bills (a homogeneous image format) in addition to the original paper scans. If payment processing is provided by a vendor, flexible payment exception processing should be provided, as well as capability to comply with state medical EDI reporting requirements.”
Jopari’s Texas stakeholder demonstration also revealed the importance of a Web portal to combine front and back end compliance with broader access to workflow efficiency tools. On-demand web portal access should give both payer and provider self-service access to online EFT and 835 delivery registration options, bill & payment status inquiry, bill submission exception management tools, view & print of EOB and payment information, and optional bill appeal / reconsideration requests. Features & configuration should be payer specific, and include robust search / retrieve capabilities.
Stated Steve Stevens, Jopari’s Chief Executive Officer, “The emerging workers’ compensation compliance environment in states implementing e-Billing mandates is complex. Third party processors acting as trusted fiduciary agents should offer SAS 70 Type II certification, in addition to HIPPA, GLBA and OFAC compliance. We are pleased Jopari’s medical EDI Gateway meets these rigorous standards.”
