Jopari ProPay Provides Pathway to Payments Simplification

Disbursement models and methods for medical payments in the overall healthcare industry are changing. Cost- efficient electronic solutions, such as EFT and payment cards, have become widely adopted by Payers and are beginning to outpace the use of traditional paper based checks. The workers’ compensation industry continues to lag, with traditional paper checks and explanations of payments still the predominant method for medical payments.
With the continued reliance on paper, workers’ compensation is seeing a much greater processing expense burden. This dependence upon paper based systems is becoming more problematic for Providers in terms of manual handling and reconciliation.
Clearly, workers’ compensation Payers need access to new and better medical payment methods. In response, Jopari is expanding electronic payments options specifically designed to assist Payers in this important market to lower processing costs and improve compliance.

“Both our massive Provider network and Payer clients have all shared these same concerns,” explained Steve Stevens, CEO of Jopari. “They are asking us to help them improve the exchange of money and documentation, and get rid of the paper.”

“Jopari has been offering payment services for many years,” continued Mr. Stevens, “and in fact began offering solutions in 2003 to Payers to help them streamline their check writing / EOB, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and use of remittance advices (835). Until now, movement in the workers’ compensation industry beyond the use checks has been slow. This is a continuing problem, because other segments of the healthcare delivery system are making great strides. Our intent is to solve this problem.”

Jopari, in partnership with ECHO Health, a national leader in healthcare payment solutions, has developed a multi-tiered medical payments product, Jopari ProPay, tailored to the Workers’ Compensation marketplace. Jopari ProPay allows Payers to quickly achieve a high level of conversion to electronic payments, while affording Providers the flexibility to receive payments and remittance information in the manner that best suits their business needs. Jopari ProPay offers payment card, EFT and check options, along with 835 feeds, online portal access, and other distribution methods (mail, fax) for remittance information.

Added Mr. Stevens, “The response from our clients and our Jopari team has been exciting. At the end of the day, Providers receive reimbursement information more timely and in the manner that best suits them. Payers dramatically reduce paper distribution, while new reliance on electronic data or portals delivers flexibility and improved data quality. The key point is Jopari ProPay is a pathway for the workers’ compensation industry to achieve the objectives of streamlining – the essence of Administrative Simplification.”
